Welcome remarks & warm up insights

Guiding the AGI Revolution in a Beneficial Direction Ben Goertzel, CEO, SingularityNET and TrueAGI

There are fairly strong reasons to believe humanity may achieve human-level AGI within years rather than decades, and superintelligence not so long after that. There are also reasons to believe that judicious action carried out now can significantly increase the odds of this ongoing AGI revolution coming out beneficially for humans and other sentient beings.

Opening keynote

Life After AI George Gilder, Investor, Author & Co-founder, Discovery Institute

The present computing paradigm, characterized by its reliance on cumbersome refrigerated data centers and centralized “singularity” models, is approaching the end of the line. A revolutionary shift is on the horizon, propelled by the advent of graphene and other 2D materials. At the forefront of materials science innovation, we can now replicate the intricate operations of CERN and the Large Hadron Collider, sprawling across 27 square miles in Switzerland, on a mere micron-sized sheet of hexagonal carbon atoms in graphene. This session will explore how the blossoming of distributed computation is dedicated to enhancing the experiences of eight billion human minds, rather than vying for supremacy.

AGI’s Missing Ingredient is almost here Toufi Saliba, CEO, HyperCycle

The definition of AGI we will be referring to here, is that point in time when you can ask that AGI, what is needed to improve itself over and over and it doesn’t need any human being, it’s capable to improve itself in perpetuity until ASI etc.

Fact: The ability to have the smallest components of an AI engine collaborating with any other stranger components is currently not possible without an intermediary/ third party.

As a practitioner that first introduced the AI Decentralized with the help of ACM and subsequently IEEE, I find it extremely compelling to bring certain visions to life as opposed to point out what’s missing and not do anything about it. Especially the vision that brought me here.

This is not to advertise the Snet but to provide my completely true attestations of what I have observed and what is coming out of this ecosystem.Yes, we have indeed cracked that code of true p2p at the network layer for multi-agent systems.  Let this be the moment we tell the world… If we are right, the internet of AI is likely to evolve a lot faster than any single AI and therefore, we will all be achieving the AGI in a fully decentralized setting. In this talk we address why this is one sure way that can lead us towards beneficial AGI which is undoubtedly to become the best thing humanity has ever accomplished.  Let’s make sure to bring that reality to life as the alternative could be the complete opposite.

Posthumanism and AGI: Exploring the Intelligence-trajectory Political Matrix Daniel Faggella, CEO, Emerj Artificial Intelligence Research

Much of the AI policy discourse is focused on near-term implications: DO we make AGI open source, do we set up international controls? Do we hustle to win an international AGI race, or forge international alliances? The dialogue could be served by talking about long-term goals of AGI – not just near-term policy decisions. This session is designed to spark just this kind of dialogue. Over the last 6 months Daniel Faggella, founder of Emerj AI REsearch, has interviewed dozens of leading experts including Yoshua Bengio, Jaan Tallinn, and Ben Goertzel, to see where they map – onto the Intelligence Trajectory Political Matrix (ITPM).

Participants will get to see how they compare to these leading thinkers – and to foster conversation about policy and AGI direction with other participants who might have different “Destination” views.

Welcome & keynote session

Laws, AI and Leviathan: the second order alignment problem Anders Sandberg, Senior research fellow, University of Oxford

Legal systems can be considered as a form of extended cognition for solving coordination problems in society, giving us peace and prosperity (and power to some). It is a kind of “AI” platform running on human minds and pieces of paper, powered by human autonomy. This is also true for many other institutions like markets. But real AI seems able to perform many functions going into such institutions – at first by automating simple decisions or low-level processing, but plausibly gradually being able to solve the coordination problems far better than humans. If we want to get the goods, it is rational to hand over more and more to AI. But even if we solve the alignment problem well, we may have another problem: human autonomy is no longer necessary and may actually be suboptimal. That appears worrisome. I will discuss whether there a way out of this conclusion and invite a conversation about how to design ahead to handle such “second order alignment” problems.
